# Onboarding

How verification works, and what happens between first contact and first deposit.

Qiro vaults are permissioned. An address cannot hold vault shares until it has been verified and recorded onchain.

Confirm you meet the [eligibility criteria](/qiro-vaults/stakeholders/investors/who-can-invest.md) before starting.

### 1. Contact

Reach out through [Get in Touch](/qiro-vaults/about-us/get-in-touch.md) with the vault you are interested in and your investing entity type. Qiro confirms eligibility, current vault capacity, and the applicable minimum.

### 2. Verification

You complete KYC or KYB depending on whether you invest personally or through an entity.

**Individuals** provide identity documentation, proof of address, and evidence of accredited status under the rules of their jurisdiction.

**Entities** provide constitutional documents, ownership and beneficial ownership detail, authorised signatory information, and identity documentation for principals.

Requirements vary by jurisdiction and entity type. The exact list is confirmed when you begin.

### 3. Documentation

Subscription and related documents are executed, recording the vault, the amount, and the terms attaching to it.

### 4. Whitelisting

Once verification and documentation are complete, your deposit address is added to the vault's investor whitelist onchain.

Until an address is whitelisted, deposits from it revert and shares cannot be transferred to it. Whitelisting is address-specific. If you intend to deposit from more than one address, or later change custody arrangements, each address needs to be verified.

### 5. Deposit

You transfer stablecoins to the vault and receive shares in the same transaction. From here, [Deposit](/qiro-vaults/stakeholders/investors/deposit.md) and [Redemptions](/qiro-vaults/stakeholders/investors/redemptions.md) cover the mechanics.

### What to know

**Whitelisting can be reversed.** An address can be removed from the whitelist, for example if compliance circumstances change. A removed holder keeps their shares and can still claim assets from a serviced redemption, but cannot transfer shares or submit a new redemption request until reinstated.

**Verification is per address, not per person.** Sending shares to an unverified wallet is not possible, including one you control.

**Onboarding takes time.** Verification and documentation vary with entity complexity and jurisdiction, so most investors start the process ahead of the point they intend to allocate.
